Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

California Health Agents (“we,” “us”) is a licensed independent insurance agency, National Producer Number 14924332. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”).

This policy applies to californiahealthagents.com and to information you give us by phone, email or in person.

The short version

  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • We collect what we need to quote and service insurance coverage, and we use it for that.
  • Health information you give us is treated as sensitive and is used only to find and service your coverage.
  • You can ask us what we hold, correct it, or delete it. See Your California privacy rights.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Why we collect it

  • To prepare quotes and compare plans available in your county
  • To submit applications and enrollments to insurance carriers and Covered California
  • To service your policy: ID cards, billing questions, claims, appeals, renewals and annual reviews
  • To respond when you call, email or use the chat widget
  • To meet our legal, licensing and recordkeeping obligations as a licensed producer
  • To maintain and secure the website

Sensitive personal information

To find coverage that fits, we often need health-related details: conditions, prescriptions, and which doctors or hospitals you want to keep. Under the CCPA this is sensitive personal information.

We use it only to perform the service you asked for, and for the limited purposes the CCPA permits without a right to limit, such as servicing your policy and meeting legal obligations. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we do not use it for advertising.

Medical information you give us may also be protected by California’s Confidentiality of Medical Information Act. Where that Act applies, we handle your medical information in accordance with it.

Who we share it with

We disclose personal information for business purposes to:

  • Insurance carriers and their administrators, to quote, enroll and service coverage. This is the main reason we share anything.
  • Covered California, when you enroll through the exchange or apply for premium assistance.
  • Quoting and enrollment platforms we use to run comparisons and submit applications, including HealthSherpa, AHiX/ahix.com, Dental for Everyone, Spirit Dental, Excelsior Enroll and GeoBlue.
  • Service providers that operate our business, including our website host, customer relationship management system (Zoho), live chat providers (Zendesk and Zoho SalesIQ), email delivery, analytics, and security services (Cloudflare and Wordfence).
  • Professional advisors and regulators, where required, including the California Department of Insurance and the Department of Managed Health Care.
  • Law enforcement or others, where we are legally required to do so or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined by the CCPA. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months, including for consumers under 16. Because we do not sell or share, there is nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes we will update this policy and post an opt-out mechanism here before doing so.

Some pages of this site have contained affiliate links, which pay us a commission if you purchase through them. Those links are disclosed on the pages where they appear. Following an affiliate link takes you to a third party who collects information under their own privacy policy.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected, the categories of sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to.
  • Access a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions. We often cannot delete records we are required to keep as a licensed insurance producer, or that a carrier needs to keep your policy in force.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share, so there is nothing to opt out of.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We only use it to provide the services you requested and for purposes the CCPA exempts from this right.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny you service, charge a different price, or give you a lower level of service because you made a request.

How to make a request

Use either method:

Verification. To protect your information we need to verify who you are before we act. We will ask for two or three pieces of information we already hold, such as your name, date of birth, ZIP code and the email or phone number on file. For requests about specific pieces of information we may ask for more. We will not use anything you give us for verification for any other purpose.

Authorized agents. Someone may make a request on your behalf if they provide written permission signed by you, and we may still contact you to confirm.

Timing. We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need longer we will tell you why and may take up to a further 45 days.

How long we keep it

We keep quote and inquiry records for as long as needed to answer your question and for a reasonable follow-up period. Policy and application records are kept for the period required of licensed insurance producers under California law and by the carriers whose products we place, which is generally at least five years after a policy ends. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed for these purposes.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics, security and site functionality. These include Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager, Cloudflare for security and performance, and live chat widgets from Zendesk and Zoho SalesIQ. Some pages use OptinMonster to display offers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them may stop parts of the site working. Most browsers also offer a Global Privacy Control setting; where we receive a GPC signal we treat it as a valid opt-out request, though as noted we do not sell or share personal information.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections, access controls and a web application firewall. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to other sites

Our site links to carriers, quoting platforms and government sites such as Covered California and Medicare.gov. Once you leave our site, this policy no longer applies. Read the privacy policy of any site you go on to use.
