You own your book of business
Your clients are yours. We do not hold your book hostage, and there is no clause that strands your renewals if you decide to leave. Portability is written into how we contract, not something you negotiate on the way out.
Top-level contracts
We contract agents at the highest levels available to us, and we are transparent about where you sit. If you are producing at a level that warrants an increase, we move you up rather than waiting for you to ask.
Leads provided
We generate inbound Medicare, individual and family, and group leads across California and route them to producing agents. You are not buying your own list to get started or paying us for the privilege.
Commissions paid on time
Predictable payment cycles, statements you can actually reconcile, and a person to call when a carrier misses a payment. We chase carrier discrepancies on your behalf instead of telling you to open a ticket.
Downlines and multiple contract levels
Building an agency rather than a personal book? We support downline hierarchies and multiple contract levels, so you can recruit and override underneath you while we handle the hierarchy administration.

About our company
California Health Agents is the California practice of Independent Health Agents, an independent brokerage licensed across multiple states.
We are independent by design. We contract with many carriers rather than one, which means no carrier sets our targets and no carrier pays us to steer business their way. That is as true for the agents who contract through us as it is for the clients we serve.
Our California practice covers Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage, individual and family coverage through Covered California and off-exchange, small and mid-size group benefits, and the ancillary lines that round out a book: dental, vision, and travel medical.
Alongside California we operate agency sites in Illinois, Texas, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Indiana and Wisconsin. If you write in more than one state, or you move, your contracts can follow you.

How to get started
1. Tell us about your book
Fill out the interest form or call. We will ask what lines you write, what carriers you are already appointed with, and what is not working where you are now.
2. We map your contracts
We show you exactly what level we can contract you at, per carrier, and where any existing appointments create a release issue. No surprises after you sign.
3. Onboard and start writing
Appointments, portal access, quoting tools, lead routing and an introduction to the service team who will be answering your calls.
Questions agents ask
Do I really keep my book if I leave?
Yes. Your clients are yours. We will put the specifics in writing before you contract, so you are not relying on a verbal assurance.
What contract level will I get?
It depends on the carrier and on your production history. We will tell you the specific level per carrier before you sign anything, and we review levels as your volume grows rather than making you renegotiate.
Are the leads exclusive, and do they cost anything?
Lead volume and type vary by season and by line, and Medicare AEP looks different from year-round individual business. Ask us for the current specifics for your county and product mix. We will give you a straight answer rather than a number that sounds good on a webpage.
How do downline contracts work?
We support hierarchies with multiple contract levels. You recruit underneath you, we administer the hierarchy and the override structure, and your downline gets the same back-office support you do.
I am already appointed with some of these carriers. Is that a problem?
Usually not, but it depends on the carrier and how recently you wrote business. Some require a release and a waiting period. We check this up front and tell you which appointments are clean and which need work.
Do you contract agents outside California?
Yes. Independent Health Agents operates in several states. Tell us where you are licensed and we will sort out the rest.
